The nearest actual city is Minneapolis, about 8 hrs away. Winters are about 6 months long and they are as bad as you hear. Try to meet people or get involved, winters are very long and very depressing to do on your own. People from the area are not too fond of the military or anyone not born here. Very little diversity. Many people often drive to Bismarck or Fargo just for the sake of eating out at somewhere that isn?｢どｨび｢t Applebee?｢どｨび｢s. The zoo in Bismarck isn?｢どｨび｢t amazing, but it?｢どｨび｢s better than the one in Minot. Get out of town for sure, check out Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the International Peace Gardens. By law, anywhere that doesn?｢どｨび｢t just sell food is closed between midnight and noon on Sundays, so no WalMart or anything until noon.
